Among the most affluent addresses in Minnesota, Edina encompasses many of the SouthWest Metro area’s top schools, jobs, and houses. Loaded with high-end restaurants and boutiques and bolstered by regular community events and gatherings, this inner-ring suburb features 45 different neighborhoods and many impeccably maintained homes.
 
Just a few minute's drives from Downtown Minneapolis, Edina is reachable via multiple highways, while Metro Transit offers bus service throughout this upscale suburb. Close to 50,000 residents call this area home, and parks and recreational facilities are plentiful.
 
Edina real estate is upmarket—more than 55 percent of buildings in this community are single-family detached homes, many with a multi-million dollar price tag. Large apartment buildings are also available, but the bulk of Edina residents are homeowners—only 20 percent of the population rents.

Close to the chain of city lakes in Minneapolis and convenient to downtown Minneapolis, the airport, and major shopping, including the Mall of America, Edina attracts a variety of upscale, family-oriented buyers that office in downtown Minneapolis and travel for business.
 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Several notable shopping centers are located within Edina. At Southdale Center, you’ll find 120 specialty stores anchored by Macy’s, Herberger’s, and JCPenney. There’s also an AMC Megaplex here with 16 screens. The 50th and France commercial district offer 175 different retailers and many upscale restaurants. An annual outdoor art fair is held here every June. The Galleria is Edina’s most posh retail destination: Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton are located here.
 
The restaurant scene in Edina includes a mix of casual and fine dining establishments. At the Edina Grill, you can order breakfast any time of the day or indulge in their award-winning burger and fries platter. Steak is the focus of Pittsburgh Blue, a classy chophouse located within the Edina Galleria Mall.
 
Burger lovers can get their fix at the Wooden Hill Brewing Company (think classic cheeseburger), The Tavern Grill (gourmet burgers served on croissants and pretzel rolls), or the Red Cow (there’s a burger here made of 40 percent ground bacon!).


Things to Do

There are 40 parks and more than 1,500 acres of open space in Edina. Centennial Lakes Park is a popular weekend destination—featuring a large amphitheater, putting course, gardens, and fishing and skating opportunities; there is also a mile-long promenade for jogging and biking. 
 
At Edinborough Park, a unique city-owned indoor park with a junior-Olympic sized swimming pool, running track, and fitness area, residents host birthday parties and participate in family-focused events. Braemar Field is a year-round domed sports facility that features an ice rink, playing field, and a quarter-mile of indoor track.
 
Nearby Braemar Golf Course has been rated among the top 75 public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest. 
 
There’s also a Nine Mile Creek Bike Trail connecting Edina with neighboring Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Richfield.
